On Corpus Christi Sunday June 6, 1999, the Diocese of Belleville began Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Parishioners committed themselves to pray for one hour a week before the Blessed Sacrament. Perpetual Adoration at the Chapel located at St. Teresa Church is meant for all parishes in the Belleville Diocese. The Perpetual Adoration program is sponsored and organized by the St. Peter Fraternity of the Order of Franciscan Secular as one of their apostolates. All Catholics are invited to be a part of this important and much needed prayer program.
Our fraternity is based in Belleville but we have professed members and candidates from all over the Diocese of Belleville. Click on this link to go to our web information: https://www.nafra-sfo.org/

As we proceed to develop this site, we will give you insights into our life as the Order of Franciscan Seculars. This time we would like to tell you that the beginnings of our fraternity were started over one hundred years ago. Our St. Peter fraternity came into its own in 1931. At that time we were called the Third Order of St. Francis. This was true then and is still true today. We are a true Order of Franciscans, in our homes, living in the Spirit of St. Francis and the Gospel life. That is why we are called Secular today. Our life moto is "In the world, not Of the World". For more information about the national Franciscan Order please go to: http://www.nafra-sfo.org/ or http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/06217a.htm
Our St. Peter Fraternity today includes approximately twenty active Franciscans, many other's are shut-ins or residents of nursing homes. Some fraternity members are fully professed, while some are candidates. There are three levels to profession. The 1st is Orientation, the 2nd is Inquiry, and the 3rd is Profession. This process lasts around two years and culminates in a profession ceremony; examples of which are shown in the pictures below. http://www.nafra-sfo.org/is_god_calling.html
